Acupuncture is one of main modalities of Traditional Chinese medicine used to treat illness, prevent disease and improve well-being. It encourages the body to promote natural healing and improve organ function while treating the root cause of the condition. It also promotes the release of serotonin and dopamine (feel good hormones) which is why you feel so good after an acupuncture session. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin disposable steel needles into the body’s vital energy points. These needles are strategically placed on the meridians and channels of the Traditional Chinese Medicine system. It promotes Qi (think of energy in your body) and blood circulation and stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities to re-establish balance and harmony within the body.
It is a phenomenal therapy to promote circulation, reduce internal inflammation and boost immunity. Acupuncture is also an amazing therapy to alleviate pain and decrease inflammation for acute and chronic conditions.
Acupuncture can treat a wide range of conditions and internal illness such as mental and emotional imbalances such as stress and anxiety, digestive and menstrual problems/dysfunctions, hormonal imbalances, dermatological concerns, infertility, and insomnia.
Acupuncture works well to help with neurological conditions such as Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Bell's palsy, sensory malfunction such as lack of sense of taste or smell, and so much more.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe and effective way to reduce the signs of aging without the side effects of surgery or harmful chemicals. There are treatments to help with the face, neck and abdomen. What’s great is that results are not only long lasting, but it also helps to slow down the body’s aging process.
Cosmetic acupuncture improves complexion by creating micro-trauma to the skin, thus creating Qi and blood circulation to the area and stimulating the production and surge of collagen and elastin to help the skin look refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated. This results in the firmer skin, reduction in wrinkles and tightening of the jowls. It can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, improve elasticity of the skin, reduce blemishes and acne scarring, improve complexion and even lighten age spots.
The special Cosmetic Mei Zen treatment that Stacey provides is such a great medicine because not only do patients get good cosmetic results, they also get great health benefits along with it. Tuina means “to push” and “grasp”. It is an ancient Chinese healing art of manual therapy and body work that works on the physical, physiological and emotional well-being by unblocking meridian channels to allow the free flow of Qi. It is a great form of therapy for someone who may be afraid of needles. Tuina massage uses a combination of manual therapy techniques that include kneading, pressing, stretching, gliding, rolling, rocking and pulling. Similar to acupuncture, acupressure is done (pressure applied on certain points) on the body to balance the internal organs, relieve common ailments and discomfort, while bringing you back to homeostasis and a state of zen.
It is a great manual therapy to combine with your acupuncture, guasha or cupping session.
Tuina massage is great to reduce stress and anxiety, assist in regulated bowel movements, assist with flushing out toxins, encourage relaxation and improve the quality of sleep. It is commonly used to treat conditions and injuries related to the musculoskeletal and nervous system such as neck and shoulder tension, low back pain and overall muscle tension. Tuina massage can assist in acute and chronic conditions.
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine that involves the suction of special cups on the surface of the skin (special cups that are placed over the skin to create negative pressure through suction). It provides myofascial release and allows for proper Qi and blood flow to the surrounding areas. It is a great therapy to improve circulation, reduce pain, clear toxins within the body, enhance mobility and muscle recovery, limit the duration of cough and cold symptoms, reduce inflammation, release tension and tightness in joints and muscles, as well as nourish and balance the essential internal organs of life.
Stacey offers different methods of cupping therapy. Upon your initial assessment, Stacey will advise on the best type of cupping therapy for you.
Cupping therapy works really well to help remove and reduce this stagnation to provide pain relief.
“Gua” means ‘scrape’ and “sha” means ‘sand’ which depicts the petechiae(tiny red/purple dots) that result on the skin from the treatment. This Traditional Chinese Medicine practice uses a Jade stone tool to gently scrape the skin with applied pressure, bringing blood flow and circulation to the area. It also promotes blood circulation and removes toxic heat, blood and lymph. It is a great therapy to help with knots, muscle tension and pain – especially in the neck, trapezius muscles and back. It is also a great modality to help alleviate tension headaches and migraines. Guasha has been a great tradition to help relieve common cold symptoms as well.
Facial guasha has become very popular in the holistic skin and beauty community. It can help to restore and rejuvenate the skin in a natural way but promoting Qi and blood circulation and accelerate skin cell regeneration, improve skin complexion and slow down the aging process.
